Truly Flexible Space: A Condo that Evolves to Fit Your Needs

There are various truths first-time home buyers must face in today’s market. If you live in a major metropolitan city, prices are likely to be intimidating to say the least. Also, what you can afford will most likely not be what you need 5 to 10 years down the road.

So what do you do if you want to play in the condo game?

One architectural firm Sweeny, Sterling & Finlayson, with development company Parallax & Co, have come up with an exciting solution in the Toronto market. It’s called FlexNatür, and it is a planning system designed to help new condominium buyers invest in the present and build for the future. The idea is that clients can purchase multiple units that can adapt into larger spaces over time. If the owners are not using the space they can rent out those units and then combine them when they eventually desire the increased layout. This transformation is possible due to the condominiums innovative design as they can be reconfigured without major construction, based on unique elements like the raised floors, concrete columns and self-contained facilities. The added bonus is that these changes can be implemented at a fraction of the cost of major renovations.

This design is an answer to the young homeowners challenge, and a creative way developers are gaining an edge in the current competitive condominium market.
